Edward Michael Burchett
Apr 27, 2018Mike was born in Newport on November 19, 1944 to Imogene (Sweeney) Burchett and Edward Lloyd Burchett. Mike was the oldest of four children. Mike graduated from Newport High School in 1964. Mike had many careers throughout his lifetime, including working as a chef at numerous restaurants also on the Wacoma Research Vessel allowing him to travel around the world. In addition, Mike worked at the Newport Fire Department, Bateman Funeral Home in Newport with Gene and Dean Bateman, and he was also a chip truck driver. Mike had a never ending passion for automobiles and he owned and operated Mike’s Body Shop.On November 4, 1967 Mike married Sharon Lowery. For the past five years they have managed the Agate Beach RV Park where Mike inherited the nickname “Big Shot”. Mike enjoyed being a grandfather to his six grandchildren. He loved fishing, hunting, camping, and being an absolute outdoorsman. Mike had a way of making everyone around him laugh. His sense of humor and fun loving ways made him unique.Mike is is preceded in death by his parents, Edward Lloyd and Imogene Burchett. He is survived by his wife of 50 years Sharon Burchett; daughters: Lisa Burchett, Michelle Burchett-Rios, and Nicole Burchett all of Newport. We can’t forget “Princess” his four legged best friends whom he adored; his grandsons: Trenton Ghormley of Portland, and Logan and Neven Rios of Newport; granddaughters: Kaylee and Jaylyn Kappus, and Taylor MacDuffee all of Newport; his sisters: Kristi (Bill) Brund from Newport and Dana Curry from Toledo; as well as his brother Tracy (Cheryl) Burchett from Newport.A Celebration of Life for Mike will be held at Abundant Life Center in Toledo, Oregon on May 5, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. A potluck will follow.
